Rainbow Pride of West Virginia is a non-profit organization that exists to serve the LGBT community. This past Tuesday we had our Pride ‘09 “Wrap-up” meeting, where we discussed the pros and cons of the various events that made up Pride Week. Several interesting points were made and we talked about some new ideas for 2010. Now it’s your turn. What were some of your favorite things about Pride ‘09? Where do you think we could use some improvement? What would you like to see changed or added for next year?

I would strongly suggest, getting Derek and Romaine from Sirius Radio to do pride next year, Not only do they have a national radio show but if you ask them they will show up and they have been doing prides around the country for six years now, they have a huge following and are on the only national GLBT radio station in history. Romaine Patterson was a very close friend of Mathew Sheppard and wrote a book about her experiences .The Whole World Was Watching, living in the light of Mathew Sheppard. Her Angel Action was featured in The Laramie Project and she does many speaking engagements and has a place in gay history. Too easy to get ahold of the Out Q line is 1-866-305-6887. But I think it would be great to get a national radio show with over 19 million subscribers to add a bit of kick to pride next year. They are the most popular show on that channel and I as part of “the bitches” have promoted the show for years. Think about it and I think it would add a great deal to WV pride and as someone who has never been to a pride festival, they have many people who would love the chance to have them there. Get in touch with them , I have many people whom i am in contact with that either host shows on Sirius as well as many friends who are connected to the show, it would be great. thanks JD Wallace
